Meet at Robert Green’s Rockit orchard (cnr Staffords and Croft Roads). – Bushfire recovery orchard walk – Tuesday 29 March at 5:30pm.
Since the December 2019 bushfire, SARDI have been monitoring the recovery of two fire affected orchards in the Adelaide Hills (apple and cherry) and testing the effect of remedial pruning treatments. Similar work is being done by NSW-DPI in Batlow, with learnings being shared across the two regions through a collaborative Hort Innovation research project.
Lenswood growers are invited to attend a quick field walk next Tuesday 29th March from 5:30pm to see the recovery of apple and cherry trees following the fire damage.
Tim Pitt from SARDI will provide an update on canopy and yield response as affected by pruning treatments, and also share the progress of NSW-DPI investigations. There will be an opportunity for informal Q&A with Tim and the orchard managers.
Please meet at Robert Green’s Rockit orchard (Cnr Staffords and Croft Roads) at 5:30 pm for a look at the apple trial site. We’ll then move on to Kym Green’s cherry site to discuss the recovery of his trees.
All welcome to attend!
